Garowe, (insidesomalia.org)-An intelligence officer with the Puntland Intelligence Service (PIS) in northern Somalia was shot several times near a popular hotel in Bossaso, the region's vital commercial port city.

The PIS agent was shot four times and wounded, with Bossaso medical sources saying the agent is under critical condition.

Witnesses said two masked men armed with pistols approached the intelligence agent and shot him several times.

Bossaso locals said violent crime is growing in the city, with at least four people shot and killed in the since Tuesday night.

A teacher was shot to death in east Bossaso on Wednesday night, relatives and police reported.

Omar Abdiaziz, the deceased teacher, was killed as he was heading home.

Puntland police officials said no suspect had been arrested in connection with the shooting death of the teacher.
